What a great beginners guide to India: after 3 visits there this book still fascinated, and taught, me things!
The number of gods and goddesses in this huge country are enormous and the authors little thumbnail sketches of some of the main ones are helpful.
I laughed at some of the descriptions and the light, non serious, almost tongue-in-cheek pieces that make it easy to absorb the info … a must-read for all those going to India

This is a delightful book that explains the subtleties of Indian culture. It was a quick and fun read, and answered many questions… some of which I hadn’t even formulated yet. I would recommend this book to anyone(especially women) who has been to or is considering a trip to India. The author’s insight and knowledge from a non-native perspective make it worth buying!
